Design Diaries 2
A few months back, I moved out of a 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment in East Village, New York, where I lived with a roommate, and into my own studio in the city. I was incredibly excited to live alone, but even more enthusiastic about having the freedom to decorate my space exactly as I wanted.
Months before securing the apartment, I was already envisioning what I wanted the space to look like, sourcing furniture, and creating mood boards and color schemes. I have waited my whole life to decorate my own space with my own money, free from anyone else's opinions, so I was more than prepared. However, I still sought inspiration from other designers and those with studios to get fresh ideas or discover new furniture pieces.
I used Spoak to create my floor plan, budget, and furniture breakdown, which helped me organize my thoughts and make updates in one central location. I drew some inspiration from the YouTubers I mentioned in my previous piece, however, many of my on-the-go ideas came from TikTok.
Below are a few TikTokers who offer excellent interior design tips, apartment-specific advice, showcase very cool design styles, and so much more.
